To repair the damage caused by May's devastating fire, the Glasgow School of Art is searching for a team to carry out the restoration of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's celebrated building. Following the overwhelming public support for restoration instead of a contemporary reinterpretation, the selected team will be required to return the building to its original condition over a predicted construction period of five years. The school is currently in the process of raising £20 million for the restoration, in addition to the £5 million pledged by both the Scottish and UK governments. Last week, a temporary roof was installed over the structure to protect it from winter weather.
The school is currently taking expressions of interest from architect-led teams, which must also include at least one structural engineer and one mechanical and engineering consultant. Those who wish to register their interest must do so at this link before November 10th.
